Tech Week: Take Care

20 Jun

We’re living in a digital world now, and there’s an app for just about everything you can imagine. This week, The New Parents Guide presents Tech Week: we’ll spotlight some of our favorite family-friendly apps. Many are free; the others are worth it! Feel free to add the names of the apps you love in the combox.

It never fails–your child runs a fever or runs into the coffee table right after the pediatrician’s office has closed for the day.  Or she wakes up in the middle of the night with a weird rash.  How’s a panicked parent to know what warrants a trip to the Emergency room, and what can wait until morning?

St. Louis Children’s Hospital has put together a FREE iPhone app called KidCare.  It’s easy to navigate this app by selecting the symptoms your child displays.  A decision chart will help you determine the best action, and if you have phone service, you can instantly connect to 911, your pediatrician or a nearby Emergency room.  The content in this app is reviewed regularly by a team of doctors and nurses to ensure that it is up-to-date and easy to understand.
