The best car seat for your baby is the one that best fits your baby’s size AND can be properly installed in your vehicle. We have a Car Seat Buying Guide with several articles to help you choose among the many options available. Here are a few of the things you’ll need to consider:
- Get a checkup. You can have your child’s car seat tested FREE by a certified safety technician who will help you adjust an improper installation if necessary. Search by state and zip code to find a testing center in your area.
- Check the dates. Did you know that car seats have expiration dates? Usually those are around 6 years after the date of manufacture. Look at the label on your child’s car seat for information.
- Snug as a bug in a rug. Make sure the harness straps fit your child snugly. Loose straps do no good in a crash. If straps are too tight over a jacket, loosen the straps or remove the jacket and cover your child with a blanket instead.
- Not even for a minute. Never leave your baby or child alone in a car.
