Every kid loves a picnic. The kids in my neighborhood have picnic lunches as often as they can! They all go home, get their lunch on paper plates “to go” from their moms, then head to someone’s backyard to eat together. It’s easy on the moms, since we’re only dealing with our own child’s food preferences, and it’s fun for the kids.
The other day, one of our neighbor’s kids brought her lunch over here on a lovely china plate. Now, even if I had a set of Haviland, I wouldn’t hand it over to a child to eat outside; my son is happy if there’s a Zoopals plate around for him! When I returned the plate to this girl’s mom, I learned that this was an unauthorized use of the fine china.
A kid-friendly picnic table is essential for those impromptu picnic lunches. KidKraft makes a nice sturdy table with benches and an umbrella to give the kids a shady spot to enjoy their sandwiches. Crafted of shanmu wood with a honey finish, this picnic set even features under-bench storage!
