Site Spotlight: Baby Name Guide
5 Sep
Here’s our opportunity to blow our own horn! We have some great sections on our main site, and we want to make sure that all our readers know about them.
One of the most important things that parents give to their baby is a name. Naturally, this is something to be taken very seriously. My parents, for example, thought about naming me “Beverly Ann.” But with a last name beginning with the letter G, they figured out that my initials would be BAG, and they didn’t want to saddle me with that.
So they named me “Barbara Ann” instead. Nice!
We had baby names picked out for our first child within the first months of the pregnancy. With child #2, it was easy, because we had a girl’s name that had not been used, so we just needed to come up with another boy’s name. Then, six years went by before our third child was born. By then, we decided we didn’t like the boy’s name that hadn’t been used by our second child, so we needed to come up with two names.
We were still arguing about discussing name choices on the way to the hospital when I was in labor with child #3.
Hopefully, you’ll find our Baby Name Guide and list of Most Popular Baby Names useful–and won’t find yourself in the kind of situation I just described. (And do check that popular-names list. You don’t need your child to be the seventh one with the same name in the same classroom. As a former teacher, I can witness to just how confusing that can be!)
Have a great weekend! I’ll be back Monday with a whole new Basket of Bargains.
