National Parks

Great Basin National Park includes streams, lakes, alpine plants, abundant wildlife, a variety of forest types including groves of ancient bristlecone pines, and numerous limestone caverns, including beautiful Lehman Caves.  Stop at the visitor center and take a tour of the cave. In the summer, drive the scenic road to the base of Wheeler Peak. From there, follow easy to moderate trails to alpine lakes and the bristlecone pine forest.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area offers a wealth of things to do and places to go year-round. Its huge lakes cater to boaters, swimmers, sunbathers, and fishermen while its desert rewards hikers, wildlife photographers, and roadside sightseers. Three of America's four desert ecosystems--the Mojave, the Great Basin, and the Sonoran Deserts--meet in Lake Mead NRA. As a result, this seemingly barren area contains a surprising variety of plants and animals, some of which may be found nowhere else in the world.

At 1,149 feet, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. From the observation decks, lounge, restaurant, meeting, banquet and private dining rooms, guests enjoy panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip and the surrounding valley. Visitors are whisked from ground level to the observation decks in less than 30 seconds in double decker elevators traveling at speeds of 1,800 feet per minute or three floors a second. Thrill seekers can enjoy excitement over 100 stories above the ground on the Big Shot thrill ride and the High Roller roller coaster. For the less daring, there is the Strat-O-Fair midway attraction. The Strat-O-Fair features a renovated Ferris Wheel circa 1958, and a child size Little Shot. Lake Tahoe - One of the most popular lakes in the west offering fishing, skiing, hot air balloon rides, diving, parasailing, sailing, beaches, camping and much more for the whole family.  There are several popular spots around the lake including Kings Beach State Recreational area and Tahoe State Recreational Area. Located just west of Carson City, Nevada.

Lake Mead - Very large lake with 550 miles of shoreline, offering fishing, boating, camping, hiking, nature walks and restaurants.  One of the most scenic lakes in all of the west featuring canyons, boulders and clear blue water. The lake runs from the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon to Hoover Dam. It is surrounded by the Lake Mead National Recreational Area. Located 15 miles east of Las Vegas.

Lake Mohave - Lake Mohave is part of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, which offers boating and camping.  Lake Mohave stays very close to the original course of the Colorado River. Black Canyon, just below Hoover Dam and has scenic walls that are very high of which many have hot springs flowing from them.
