Unique Baby Shower Invitations

Planning a baby shower for an expectant mom is a wonderful way to help her prepare for the arrival of her new baby. There are so many themes and choices of party supplies available today and it can be exciting and overwhelming when planning the party. One aspect of party planning is deciding what kind of baby shower invitations to send. Traditional style invitations include custom printed invitations to pre-printed invitations that include handwritten information about the festivities. While traditional invitations are perfectly acceptable, there are more unique options available.

Instead of a paper invitation, try a fabric covered version. Simply cut out a diaper or “onesie” shape out of cardstock paper. Use it as a template to cut out a fabric shape. Paste the fabric to the cardstock and use colored markers or puffy paint to write the party information on the front. Embellish invitations with ribbons, embroidery, silk flowers, or plastic gems. For those not-so-crafty folk, there are custom printed “onesie” shaped cards or diaper shaped cards.

Even though baby hasn’t arrived, the little one can be the center of the invitation! Several companies will print one-of-a-kind invitations with personal pictures. Adding an ultrasound picture to the invitation will receive “ooh’s” and “aah’s” from guests as they marvel at the growing infant. Additionally, invitations can include pictures of the expectant mother’s belly or pictures of the anxious couple.

For a personal touch, hand delivering a special invitation to each guest not only provides a memorable approach, but also is the perfect opportunity to catch up with family and friends. Invitations that do not mail well such as rolled up hand-written scrolls or invitations which hang on door knobs are a perfect style to use.

For today’s technologically savvy guests, video and e-invitations are a fun and fast way to invite guests to the special day. While some people still may not have access to email, Facebook, and other social networking sites, there are more and more people using the Internet to communicate special events. The party planner can make the invitation special by creating a slideshow or video of the eager couple including ultrasound pictures, pictures of the nursery, etc.

Guests find invitations that double as keepsakes quite memorable. Creating a CD of favorite music of the expectant couple or picking out songs with the word “baby” in the title is a fun way to mark the occasion. Party information can be printed on custom CD labels. Another keepsake invitation is creating a custom magnet with the party information that guests can stick to the refrigerator as a reminder of the special day.

Whatever baby invitation style is used, the baby shower is a special time to celebrate the pending arrival. A unique invitation will create a memorable experience for the new mom.
