Kick The Can Game

Materials needed:

  • Cola Can or small bucket

1.  One child starts as the kicker.  The kicker kicks the can, covers his or her eyes and counts to fifty.  This gives the other children a chance to hide.

2.  When the kicker stops counting, he or she puts the can upright and say "ready or not, here I come".

3.  The kicker starts looking around and when he or she finds someone the kicker says the hider's name, races the hider back to the can and tries to be the first to kick it again.  If the hider kicks it first the game starts over again,  If the kicker kicks the can first then the hider must stand near the can while the kicker seeks another hider.

4.  While the kicker is looking for other hiders, the other hiders can free the captured hider by running up to the can and kicking it before being spotted by the kicker.  The captured players then go and hide again and the games continues.

Tip: Play this game at night and it make the kickers job of finding their friends a little harder.  Be sure your children are playing this game in a cul-de-sac, park or other area where there is no traffic.
