  • Through this week, continue to be deliberate about waking baby for feeds with a maximum of 3 hours between feedings during the day. One 4-5 hour stretch at night is OK. Continue to allow unlimited time at the breast when baby is sucking actively.
  • It is a good idea to take baby in for a weight check by the end of the first week or the beginning of the second week. You can schedule one at your Lactation Consultant or Pediatrician’s office.
  • Most soiled diapers should be yellow, with an occasional green one OK. Consistently green stool should be evaluated.
  • At the end of this week, your breasts may begin to soften. This does NOT mean that your milk is drying up! This is your body beginning to regulate the supply to more closely match your baby.
